How to make a Mediterranean Sunset cocktail
A great, fresh cocktail
We can just imagine sitting on the promenade in a seaside town looking out onto the deep blue of the Mediterranean and happily sipping away at these!
It goes really well with Royal Fox Blood Orange gin from Harrison Distillery. Harrison Distillery in Huddersfield is the brainchild of Simon and Laura who started the distillery (which used to be "Crafty Fox" but had to be renamed) to make gin for their wedding favours. Blood Orange is one of five gins in their range and is one of the most interesting.
It isn't a flavoured gin though, it's a London dry which uses blood oranges as its main botanical. This means that the gin is still clearly recognisable as a London dry, but has wonderful citrus and orange hints as well.
On the nose the sweetness of the oranges come through, strongly supported by the juniper. In the mouth, again the distinctive blood orange citrus leads, but it's ably supported by a raspberry hint alongside piney juniper and peppery spice. Serve over lots of ice with a Mediterranean tonic and orange peel – or use for this brilliant cocktail!
